CSO hails military over Off-cycle election security

The Nigerian military has been praised by the Coalition for Good Governance and Security (CGGS) for its involvement in the recently conducted off-cycle elections in the states of Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi.

This was said in a statement made on Monday in Abuja by the Coalition’s National Coordinator, Ishaku Aliyu.

He said that by remaining impartial in every state where the poll was held, the Armed Forces had kept their word to Chief of Defense Staff General Christopher Musa.

Aliyu praised the defense commander for his help in advancing democracy in the nation, saying that the military’s noble role had guaranteed that there were few security hiccups during the election.

“We know that the CDS has issued a strong warning, saying that any illegal activity during the election will not be tolerated.

We may state that the AFN fulfilled its commitment. Our study of the three states where the off-cycle election took place showed that our soldiers did a fantastic job.

“We may give the military credit for maintaining neutrality, despite certain politicians’ attempts to involve them in the events that occurred. CGGS praises the CDS for another outstanding performance.
